Everything you need to know for our horse show on Sunday 27th May!!

Well after a busy first show, and having to cancel our second show in April due to poor weather we return on Sunday 27th May. We have had a fantastic response from you all on our first show of the season – check out our Facebook page to see the latest comments https://www.facebook.com/groups/bridgewaterridingclub/

Our May 27th  show is open to members and non-members. Our next show is a trophy show, with all class winners taking home a trophy.

1. Where is the horse show? We are based in the heart of Cheshire near Northwich in the North West and easily accessible from M56, M6 and A556. You can get directions here.

2. Looking for a show schedule? Click here to see what’s on. We’ve got ShowJumping, Working Hunter, Showing, Equitation, Handy Pony and Gymkhana. Unfortunately we cannot say what time individual classes will start as it depends on how busy each class is!

3. How to enter? Our horse shows are open to both members and members. To become a member for the year it is only £20. Pre-entry is only £5 for members (per class) and on the day £6. 4. What are your rules? Please read the schedule information carefully and make sure you check out the rules page.

5. Is the show on? In the unfortunate event that a show is cancelled, a decision is made on Friday evening. We will post on the website, Facebook and Twitter if the show is cancelled by Saturday morning.

Due to the wet weather we have had to take the decision on safety grounds to cancel the show.

We will hopefully reschedule for later in the year.

Hi all,

Another quick catch up due to the short time between shows, to make sure you all get your pre entry forms. The saving all adds up, in a couple of shows you can cover the cost of your membership, and it’s so much easier on show morning!

Opening show was a great day, the weather was reasonably kind to us! Welcome to all our new members. If you were lucky enough to qualify for either the North West Showjumping, Working Hunter or Showing Championships, don’t forget to go onto the website and register your qualification. You will then receive an entry form and schedule by email. Don’t get rid of your card as when you fill out your entry and post it, you will need to include the card.

I hope you have worked off those prize Easter eggs! This coming show is a Medal show, with medals to all 1^st place winners, so slightly less fattening. All our NW qualifiers are up for grabs once again, plus UK Showing qualifiers.

Apologies for this not being a full newsletter, but we are a bit ‘full steam ahead’ at the start of the season with two shows within three weeks. I will make it up to you next time.

Due to personal circumstances, I’d like to say a big thank you to those of you who have shown me support and care over the last month. I do appreciate it and this way I know my thanks get to everyone.

Thanks to everyone who came to our first show, it was great to see everyone back on the show field. I hope you all like your rosettes, trophies and easter eggs! April is a special month with 2 shows and we return on Sunday 22nd April with a medal show!

Many of our members use Delamere Forest for rides out on horses and ponies. There is a planned protest to take place on Sunday 25th March at 1pm and is scheduled to last around an hour. A new development within the forest is being planned and those opposed to the plans and are concerned about the environmental impact of the extra traffic from a minimum of 110 extra vehicles a day driving on previously ‘pedestrian only’ Forest Tracks are invited. The campaign group have estimated that vehicles will travel over 200,000 kilometres per year on forestry tracks alone.

Nigel Gilding, of the Communities Against Delamere’s Destruction (CADD) Campaign Team, is asking for news to be circulated widely about plans to change the use of Delamere Forest.

He says: ‘We are holding a public protest rally at the visitor centre next Sunday at 1pm. We are asking all groups who use the forest to try and support us by turning up on the day and hope to generate good media coverage if we can show sufficient numbers. We are suggesting that forest users should arrive in the manner they would normally use the forest, dog walkers should bring their pets, cyclists, their bikes etc.

The more people we get there, the bigger the impact will be, so please try and join us and spread the word to any group that may be interested. It will be one hour towards a very important cause and everyone can use the forest afterwards – a great day out!’

The demonstration is to be held at the Delamere Forest Visitor Centre, Linmere, CW8 2JD.

Hot on the heels of Josh Aldcroft, our very own judge and course designer Becky Brougham has also qualified for the Blue Chip Winter Champs last weekend at Bold. Becky and her horse Pete (Lord Peter) had a cracking weekend which saw them complete two double clears, coming 5th in the qualifying round for Blue Chip. The Blue Chip Winter Champs take place in Hartpury in Gloucestershire between 11th-15th April.

Our first show of the season is on Sunday 8th April. Make sure you get your memberships and pre-entries in soon! Pre-entries close the Thursday before the show.

One of our competitors who was at our Winter Show has contacted us to ask if any lost property had been handed in. They have lost a Fylde pony hunter bridle with Wilkie snaffle bit. If you know of it’s where abouts please get in touch with us through the website.
